About Us
My name is Kate Biryukova, and I am a rising 11th grade student. My goal is connecting people & science internationally, be it through Zoom calls or accessible blog interviews and posts. Exchange of ideas is the main accelerator of scientific advancements, and I want to extend the opportunity of hearing global opinions to everyone🌏😀.

Mission
At FSM, we aim to create a high-quality content environment that bridges borders between science and humanity, between research and the ordinary public, and between people from diverse backgrounds. Our core belief is that everybody should have access to science at its maximum depth.

We see human connection as the key to global success. Learning from each other's stories and perspectives, together we shape a cross-national vision for the future. Whether you are joining our calls, sharing your opinion or simply reading a blog post, you are part of an active, safe and supportive community where all voices matter.

How It All Started...

Originally, this platform was a bilangual blog about materials, started by Kate Biryukova with the intention of sharing the wonders of this science with people from all walks of life. At that time, FSM stood for Familiar, Sustainable and Marvellous materials.
Yet, after exploring material innovations and meeting material science-driven people from different cultures for a year, we realized that the keystone of STEM isn't advanced theories or analytical thinking, but connection. As such, we decided to evolve into a gathering place for students, professionals, opinions and content.
While FSM Materials blog remains an essential part of our work, now we concentrate on building a community of fellow thinkers, developers and simply people who want to learn more about science.
